Spring magnolias Posted by Picasa

Love your posts, as always!! I was interested (although I'm far from a botanist - keeping potted plants alive is a major accomplishment for me) to see that the Scottish version of a "magnolia" is very different from what we call a magnolia in the Southern US - here it's a tree, with huge waxy white blossoms with a wonderful scent. I wonder if they're related - but I'm much too lazy to look it up! :-)

We actually have all sorts of magnolias and that one is Soulangeana Lennei and would be a big tree if I didn`t keep hacking it back so that I can see out of the window !
